Would cheese record attempter enjoy a gift hamper?
Published on 24/05/2010

A gift hamper could be the perfect present for a woman who is attempting to break a world record using cheese.

Tanys Pullis is going to try to construct the biggest ever cheese sculpture to mark the anniversary of the Queen's coronation, the BBC reports.

The Cordon Bleu-trained chef wants to create a crown out of a half-tonne block of cheddar to be exhibited at next month's Royal Bath and West Show.

Ms Pullis will have to build a sculpture that weighs more than 290 kg if she is to get her name into the record books.

Of the challenge, she said she was excited but also a little nervous, because "a cheese sculpture of this size has never been attempted before".

La Serena, which originated in Extremadura in Spain, was recently named the Philadelphia Inquirer's cheese of the month after the Garces Trading Company began selling the product in the city.
