Would a cheese hamper be the perfect gift for Alex James?
Published on 03/03/2010

A cheese hamper might be the ideal gift for former Blur bassist Alex James, as he is becoming something of an expert on the subject.

The musician has swapped the bright lights of the city for an Oxfordshire farm and has been making his own cheese, the Press Association reports.

He explained that the property was bought on a whim and he lives there with his wife and his five children, producing the food as well as growing wheat.

"We bought the farm on our honeymoon and if we hadn't [been] in the throes of romance, we'd never have done anything so ridiculous," said James. "But like many people, we don't look back."

The bass player wrote an autobiography about his time with Blur three years ago and is now working on a memoir in which he details his transition from urban to rural life.

Another celebrity who could be hoping for a gift hamper containing cheese is Chris Evans, with the BBC Radio Two presenter recently revealing he particularly enjoys Wensleydale.
