A group of workers at accident repair firm Howard Basford in Wirral have joined forces with Hospice of the Good Shepherd in order to help out residents of the charity.

The employees raffled a luxury hamper to support the work being done at the Chester-based establishment and the proceeds will go towards improving the quality of life for those with terminal illnesses, the Ellesmere Port Pioneer reports.

Tracy Howard, chairman of Howard Basford, told the news provider the Hospice of the Good Shepherd is an organisation close to her heart, after a relative of hers recently benefited from the respite service offered by staff.

She added: "We believe it is important for us, as a local company, to do our bit to support the community and we look forward to working further with the team at the hospice as the year progresses."

This comes after shop workers in Wiltshire recently use the cash they fundraised by going on a diet to make up a hamper full of treats for a raffle, the profits of which were then donated to Canine Partners.
