Wine in hampers 'should be drunk at the right temperature'
Published on 07/01/2011

Britons who splash out on a hamper – or are lucky enough to receive one as a gift – may wish to take the advice of one website when it comes to any wine contained within it.

NJ.com offers drinkers five tips that should see them make the most of the alcoholic beverage throughout 2011.

Firstly, it recommends ensuring wine is at the right temperature – about 55 degrees for reds and 40 degrees for whites – before it is consumed.

It goes on to urge people to use an adequate glass and make a note of any particularly tasty bottles, as these can be purchased again in the future.

The online portal continues by suggesting people learn to love wines from other parts of the world and not only where they are from.

And as a final tip, it says a visit to a New Jersey winery could be not only a great day out but also an enlightening experience.

Christopher Waters, writing for the Toronto Sun, recently said people are currently living in a "golden age" for wine.
