Drinkers who enjoy nothing more than receiving a wine gift hamper might want to make their way to Guernsey.
Television personality and viticulture expert Oz Clarke has been extolling the wine-making virtues of the region, the BBC reports.
Clarke visited the island in April and noted perceptions of the beverage have changed for the better in recent times, thanks in no small part to merchants such as Richard Allisette.
He explained that the atmosphere and sea air in the location made it suitable for making and drinking the tipple.
"I come over [to Guernsey] whenever I can, I love it over here - maybe it's because I'm an Irishman and I like that sense of being a little bit away from the mainstream," he explained.
The island is self governing and geographically closer to France than Britain and its capital - St Peter Port - is home to a number of boutiques, restaurants and bistros.
