Wine hamper lovers 'could buy a vineyard'
Published on 13/04/2010

People who enjoy receiving wine gift hampers could soon be producing their own tipple, as a couple of vineyards have gone up for sale.

Viticulture enthusiasts Janet and John Craft - who planted eight acres of vines 24 years ago - are looking to sell the property, the Daily Mail reports.

Their "delightful" 16th century farmhouse in the Suffolk village of Wissett has gone on the market as the pair are set to retire.

Mr Craft said: "The soil is perfect here and the climate is ideal - it's very dry and we have more sunshine than anywhere else in Britain."

The site currently produces 5,000 bottles of dry white, a medium white, a rose and two sparkling varieties of the beverage.

Another couple who have decided to sell their vineyard are Keith and Catherine Jago - who are considering buyers for their Herefordshire residence.

Writing for the Independent, Cathy Packe recently praised the wine that is produced in the French region of Aquitaine.
