Wine hamper fans should branch out and try new beverages, one expert has noted.

In an article for DemocratandChronicle.com Holly Howell said people should taste a tipple made from a grape they have never heard of.

She advised individuals to invest in a decent set of glasses, as it can make a difference when imbibing the drink.

People should ensure they have an excuse to enjoy some Champagne - which often feature in luxury gift hampers - as although the likes of Prosecco and Cava are nice, you cannot beat the real thing, Ms Howell suggested.

And she urged wine lovers to try a bottle from Portugal, as most are fairly cheap and those who consume it will be "pleasantly surprised".

Elsewhere, in a recent piece for SouthCoastToday.com, Heather Fleming explained there are more bottles of Champagne to choose from than ever before.

"Gone are the days when if you couldn't afford Champagne, you had to settle for low-quality bubbly that would leave you with a headache," she added.
