Wine hamper enthusiasts 'could try South Shields'
Published on 25/05/2010

A pub in South Shields could be the ideal place for wine hamper lovers to get in the mood for the upcoming football World Cup.

The Wouldhave in Mile End Road is serving five wines selected from countries that have previously won the tournament, as well as the official FIFA wine from the host nation of South Africa, the Jarrow and Hebburn Gazette reports.

None of the six varieties have been served previously in the establishment, but they will be added to 16 other brands as part of a festival to mark the run up to the competition.

The celebration will be running until June 10th, which is a day before the first match kicks off on South African soil.

It was recently reported that British viticulture is currently on the up as two vineyards in England have been honoured at the International Wine Challenge and bottle prices have decreased.
