Hamper fans who love nothing more than Mexican food with a good drop of wine may be interested to know one expert thinks they have identified the perfect partner for guacamole.
Writing for the Democrat and Chronicle, food and wine teacher Holly Howell commented that she loves the dish made with avocado and is constantly on the lookout for its best liquid accompaniment.
The connoisseur noted that although there are a number of fruity varieties that suit the dip quite well, there is no better option than a bottle of sauvignon blanc.
"Sauvignon blanc is blessed with an inherent acidity that makes just about any food taste better, especially fruit and vegetable dishes," Ms Howell said.
If European cuisine sounds more appealing, enthusiasts were also advised to pair French onion soup with seyval blanc.
Where stews and slow-roasted meats are concerned, Susy Atkins advised in the Daily Telegraph last month that European reds are the best wines for these to be served alongside.
