Thank you hampers may help incentivise staff
Published on 08/09/2011

Thank you hampers may be the ideal way to motivate staff, as many workers are more interested in incentive programmes than extra pay.

According to a poll by Staples, 85 per cent of people feel more valued when they are part of such schemes, while two-thirds are happier and more loyal.

Gift hampers come in many forms and sizes and could therefore be a perfect way to show appreciation for hardworking employees, especially as one-third of respondents said they would do an extra week's work every year if their company had a programme in place.

Staples's Anne McKeough remarked: "Employees often love a little extra incentive to achieve goals and employers are eager to find unique ways to deliver results."

Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society, made similar observations last week, suggesting bosses should be more creative about how they reward staff as "money isn't the answer to everything".
