Residents in Tamworth have been encouraged to nominate a deserving person to receive a Christmas hamper. This festive season, the town's mayor councillor Tina Clements has 250 gift baskets to distribute to elderly and disabled residents, the Tamworth Herald reports.
Local church groups, Age UK and ex-service groups will be helping to deliver the hampers to the winners and they will be filled with traditional Christmas treats.
The mayor will also deliver as many of the gift baskets as possible.
Those who wish to nominate friends, loved ones or associates can do so by contact Democratic Services on 01827 709265 or by writing to the headquarters in Lin Street.
Individuals have until December 5th to nominate their chosen recipients.
The news comes after the South Wales Argus launched an appeal asking for support for its annual Christmas Hamper project.
Gift baskets are given to families throughout Gwent to spread festive cheer.
