The Hull Daily Mail reports how staff and visitors at Bilton Grange Community Centre were treated to a basket filled with vegetables, eggs, flour, milk and other goods.
It was donated by a nearby Asda store and contained all the ingredients needed for the centre's regular cooking demonstrations.
Community colleague for the supermarket Katrina Phillipson visited the hub, where local residents can attend workshops showcasing activities such as arts and crafts, pottery and cooking.
Ms Phillipson said: "I was on a huge high after my visit to the community centre.
"It's great to be able to offer my support; the workers and volunteers are a real credit to the local community."
Mother and qualified nutritionist Amanda Ursell recently commented on the importance of ensuring children have a healthy start in life by eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.
