Successful employees 'could be rewarded with hampers'
Published on 22/03/2012

The current economic climate means many businesses had to implement pay freezes and take other steps to reduce their outgoings, a move that can cause resentment among employees who themselves need to ensure their money goes further.

According to business transformation specialist Richard Close, it is now even more important for business leaders to ensure their staff are engaged and productive and he noted there are many ways of doing this without the need for significant expenditure.

He suggested firms "run regular workshops where staff can communicate any idea they have" and to ask their opinion on issues that affect day-to-day operations.

If a pay rise is not a possibility, managers could use one-off gifts to display their gratitude for hard work, such as a hamper containing champagne and chocolate, or a non-alcoholic alternative like the Bibury Hamper, which is packed with a bottle of sparkling elderflower presse, as well as foods such as chutney, shortbread, chocolate and strawberry preserve.
