Shoppers to buy Christmas hampers at the last minute?
Published on 23/11/2011

A significant number of Brits planning to buy Christmas hampers may leave doing so to the very last minute, a new survey has found.

The Eptica Christmas 2011 Retail Experience Study showed that 46 per cent of consumers will purchase goods online a few days before December 25th.

However, more than two-thirds do not trust retailers to deliver their gifts before the big day, while 27 per cent expect them to be late.

Dee Roche, global marketing director at Eptica, said concerns about deliveries must be addressed.

"Retailers need to do much more to reassure customers that their presents will arrive for Christmas day," she stated.

Ms Roche went on to add that businesses must be swift in dealing with consumer concerns regarding reliability.

According to a survey by Webroot, twice as many people plan to buy Christmas presents via their mobile phones and tablet devices than 12 months ago.
