Brits are being encouraged to start their festive shopping early, as there are just 82 days left until Christmas. In an article in the Daily Mirror, Ruki Sayid and Tricia Philips said if people "cut corners now" they will be able to save hundreds of pounds, that they can use to buy presents - which may include luxury Christmas hampers - for loved ones. "Flogging your old gadgets, such as mobile phones, can raise about £150 and help save the planet as the parts get recycled," the duo stated. Furthermore, the experts claimed adults can save approximately £200 if they book airline and train tickets for over the yuletide period now, as it will avoid last-minute price hikes. The pair also advised shoppers to ditch traditional Christmas cards and instead send e-cards, as this can save around £45 and is better for the environment. Kevin Mountford, head of banking at moneysupermarket.com, recently urged shoppers to buy their festive gifts now to relieve the financial pressure often felt by many in December.
