Retiring school members surprised with picnic
Published on 23/07/2012

Three long-serving teachers were treated to a surprise when their friends, governors, colleagues and pupils came together to celebrate their legacy.

Picnic hampers were spread out on the field at Bourne Westfield Primary Academy to mark the retirement of the staff members, the Rutland and Stamford Mercury reports.

Headteacher Tim Bright had been at the school for 15 years, while teacher Jan Clucas was part of the team for 20 years and administration employee Jan Woolmore worked at the establishment for 12 years.

Mr Bright said: "It was really kind of people to come along, and a really nice surprise. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Westfield and I leave it, I think, in good heart."

Meanwhile, Ms Clucas described the event as a "lovely afternoon" and said it was "nice to see old friends".

The primary school closed for summer on July 19th and is set to reopen for the new academic year on September 5th.
