Families planning on packing a bottle of wine in their picnic hamper may want to check they will not be breaking the law by doing so.
A new study from the Manifesto Club revealed a string of laws introduced under the Labour government have created a series of exclusion zones in London.
Among the laws passed was a ban on consuming alcohol in public places, but the Manifesto Club claims many of the areas where this would be a criminal offence are not clearly marked.
Josie Appleton, director of the Manifesto Club, said: "Ordinary freedoms and legal protections have been suspended in large areas of public space.
"An everyday activity can be an offence if you do it on the wrong street."
Individuals were warned they could be fined up to £500 if they are caught drinking in some areas, with the offence logged on the Police National Computer.
