Families planning to pack picnic hampers and head to a popular pathway in the north-west have been advised to take care, as a huge hole has appeared in the ground.
The ten-foot deep hole near Pickmere Lake was discovered by walkers on Mere Lane, Knutsford.com reports.
Upon finding the hazard, the ramblers reported it to the police who investigated the area and issued a warning about safety.
Members of the public have been advised to stay well away from the path and picnic area close to the eastern edge of the lake.
So far, no one is said to have been injured, but an officer from the local council's green spaces team is set to visit the site to assess the possible danger and issue a closure notice.
Pickmere Lake is a popular spot for anglers who enjoy trying their luck landing fish on the large body of water.
