Concerts that see attendees take picnic hampers and watch live music in the grounds of Audley End stately home are under threat.
The Cambridge News reports how the music event organisers IMG have failed to reach a tender agreement with English Heritage.
As a result, thousands of music lovers could be disappointed to find this summer's star-studded concerts are postponed.
A spokesperson for IMG commented: "Regrettably IMG and English Heritage were not able to reach an agreement that satisfied both parties.
"English Heritage and IMG have therefore decided not to proceed with the concerts in 2012."
An alternative company is now being sought to organise the five picnic concerts that are held each July, but it is feared time is running out for ticket sales.
Audley End House was built to entertain royalty in the 1800s and features a Victorian Service Wing, dairy, formal garden and working organic kitchen garden.
