Pamper hampers help raise money for dementia charity
Published on 07/03/2012

A pamper hamper was among prizes raffled at a recent charity event held to raise funds for research into dementia.

The Ellesmere Port Pioneer reports how CLS care home Astbury Lodge hosted an afternoon tea fundraiser.

Residents and staff helped organise the spring fair entitled Time for a Cuppa, which featured a book and games stall, tombola and bric-a-brac table.

In a bid to raise donations for Dementia UK, a luxury raffle was held after tea and cake was served to all of the attendees.

Prizes included a pamper hamper and a meal for two at a local pub, as well as various other items.

Susan Lewis, activities co-ordinator at Astbury Lodge, said: "It's important to us to hold events like Time for a Cuppa to raise awareness of dementia, which affects many older people in our local community and their families."

Dementia UK was officially founded in 1994 and has approximately 75 Admiral Nurses offering specialist dementia care across the UK.
