Even the contents of high-end luxury hampers may not match up to the 'swag bag', worth almost $63,000, that was given to nominees at the ceremony.

Time magazine reports a four-night stay for two at Abu Camp in Botswana, Africa - including the opportunity to interact with elephants - was one of the most expensive offerings at $15,5800.

The pack also included a number of smaller luxury items, including a $48 body scrub and a seven-layer caramel cake valued at $58.

Award ceremonies are known for the lavish gift baskets handed to attendees and, according to Forbes, its value is said to have hit $100,000 in 2006.

Among those to have picked up the complimentary gifts at the 2012 Oscars were Meryl Streep, who won Best Actress for her role as Margret Thatcher in The Iron Lady and Jean Dujardin, named Best Actor for his part in The Artist, which also picked up Best Film.
