Opera picnic event 'a great success'
Published on 20/09/2012

A rare sunny day led to local residents in Worksop packing their picnic hampers and heading to an afternoon of opera at Hodsock Priory on Sunday (September 16th).

The local Guardian reports how more than 600 people attended the open air Picnic and Pavarotti event.

It was held to raise money for the charity Lost Chord, which provide interactive musical experiences for individuals living in care homes and day centres across the region.

Fundraising manager at Lost Chord Tina Harrison described the celebration as a "fantastic event" that will hopefully become an annual occurrence.

She thanked those who came to the picnic for attending, adding: "The great thing is that their support means that more people living with dementia will be able to enjoy the pleasure of hearing professional musicians."

BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Paulette Edwards hosted the event, while Pavarotti impersonator Carl Taylor wowed the crowds, as well as soprano Deborah Norman.
