Olympic-themed picnic attracts thousands
Published on 07/08/2012

An Olympic-themed picnic attracted dozens of families to St Paul's Rec in Brentford last week (August 1st).

The Ealing Gazette reports how parents and children came out to the event to show off their sporting prowess.

Individuals may have been inspired to pack a hamper and head to the picnic after watching the London 2012 Games.

Organiser and manager of Brentford Toy Library Sally Malit said: "There was something for everyone and all the events were free of charge, which means in these hard times everyone could get involved."

The picnic featured a community sports day, a tug of war, a football assault course and several other alternative London 2012 sports.

More than 3,000 people attended the event, which celebrated its sixth anniversary.

The sports day was held to celebrate National Play Day and was a free event open to people of all ages, running from midday until 16:00 BST.
