Those who enjoy the contents of a wine hamper now and then may be interested to learn that female vintners are playing a growing role in North American wine production.
The Forum for Women Entrepreneurs celebrated this at its Vancouver gala on Monday (February 21st), honouring the growing number of ladies entering the profession, the Vancouver Sun reports.
In addition to the traditional aspects of the process, Judie Barta - founder of Kelowna's Meadow Vista Honey Wines - stated that women are expanding the growth of the industry. She noted females in the trade are pioneering new business ventures such as bed and breakfast facilities, entertainment wineries and restaurants, while some are more entrepreneurial by selling and building operations.
Georgian vintners are also set to make their presence known in the wine trade as The Financial has reported the nation is the second biggest grape producer behind Moldova in the former Soviet Union.
