Might the world's oldest woman enjoy a champagne hamper?
Published on 06/05/2010

The world's oldest living woman might like to receive a champagne gift hamper as it has been revealed that she enjoys sipping the beverage.

Eugenie Blanchard is 114 years old and especially likes to consume the drink on her birthday, Agence France-Presse reports.

The French woman now resides on the island of Saint Barths in the Caribbean and took the title following the death of Japan's Kama Chinen on Sunday.

Ms Blanchard's nephew told the news provider that his auntie - nicknamed La Douchy - still has a zest for life and a taste for bubbly.

He remarked: "Because of her age, she had to be hospitalised but she still loves having a glass of champagne, at least on her birthday."

It was recently reported that Jiroemon Kimura, Japan's oldest man, had celebrated his 113th birthday by eating cake with his friends and family, which included both great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
