Sandra Bullock might like to receive a baby gift hamper as it has been revealed the star has adopted a young boy.

The Hollywood actress revealed to People magazine that she brought three-month-old Louis Bardo Bullock back to the US in January.

She wanted to delay the announcement of her new family member, who is named after What a Wonderful World singer Louis Armstrong, until after the Academy Awards.

Bullock told the publication: "People that I worked with for years couldn't understand why I wouldn't let them into my house for [Oscar dress] fittings."

The revelation has come at a busy time for the celebrity, who recently picked up an Academy Award and has filed for divorce from her husband Jesse James, who is alleged to have been unfaithful to her.

Sandra Bullock has appeared in a number of film roles, including her award-winning performance in The Blind Side and appearances in such movies as Speed and Miss Congeniality.
