Individuals who enjoy spicy red wines have been advised to try malbec. In an article for the Scotsman, Rose Murray Brown suggested the beverage's rise in popularity is because of its "exploits in South America". She explained the cuttings for the drink - which is often featured in luxury gift hampers - originated from Bordeaux, but it is Argentina that provides the "spiciest, softest texture red juiciest malbecs". Ms Murray Brown noted investment in the Uco Valley has boosted the grape and the high temperatures help it to retain its acidity, which results in concentrated flavours, aromas and pigments. "You certainly get lots of fruit and colour for your money with this grape," she remarked. The writer observed some of the best malbecs are produced by winemakers from Italy and France who now work in Argentina. According to a recent article in the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, Bordeaux wine is an ideal accompaniment to traditional autumn dishes such as shepherd's pie or sausage and mash.
