Luxury gift hamper fans 'can enjoy chocolate without feeling guilty'
Published on 08/10/2010

Hamper fans who enjoy consuming chocolate should not feel bad when they eat it, one expert has suggested.

Food writer Emma Lewis said those with a sweet tooth should just reduce their calorie intake so the sweet stuff does not become a treat.

"I think that people have a bit of a guilt about [hiding sweets], especially women. They think they shouldn't really be doing it our message today is that you can do it," she added.

People can nibble on chocolate - which is often found in luxury gift hampers - and other sweet provisions providing it is moderation, Ms Lewis noted.

Individuals turn to the snack for all sorts of reasons, some use it as pick-me-up when they are feeling tired and others enjoy it when they are going through a break up, the specialist explained.

According to a survey by Jenny Craig, 77 per cent of women claimed to have started a diet because of their appearance, while 38 per cent embark on a healthy eating plan before they go on holiday.
