Liverpool housing body deliver Christmas hampers to the vulnerable
Published on 20/12/2012

Employees at a Liverpool housing association have spread a little festive cheer after distributing Christmas hampers to vulnerable and elderly residents.

South Liverpool Homes (SLH) dished out the goodies - which featured canned food, treats and groceries - alongside Ann O'Byrne, Liverpool City Council's cabinet member for housing and community safety.

Julie Fadden, chief executive of SLH, dressed up as a Christmas pudding for the occasion, while other workers were wearing elf, Christmas tree and Santa costumes.

Ms Fadden said this year is the seventh in a row that the hamper delivery has taken place and each event is just as special as the last.

"Christmas is all about giving and we are delighted to be able to give this small token to some of our most vulnerable tenants," she added.

Every year, SLH staff and members of the local community nominate the residents who they feel are most in need of a Christmas hamper.

The housing organisation also recently visited a nearby primary school to hold a prize draw, which saw seven children win bikes donated by SLH.
