La Serena cheese 'would be a welcome hamper addition'
Published on 20/05/2010

An ideal addition to a gift hamper could be a La Serena cheese as it has been named the Philadelphia Inquirer's pick of the month.

The dairy produce originated in Extremadura in Spain and has been described by the publication's Craig LaBan as a "legendary" torta cheese.

Mr LaBan noted that Garces Trading Company in the US city has started selling the "lusciously, majestically creamy" product.

The writer was so impressed with the foodstuff that he claimed he had to fend off his family to get his fair share.

He compared its taste to that experienced when consuming wine-poached artichokes and said it is "distinctive and addictive".

The journalist recommended purchasing a two-and-a-half pound wheel of La Serena and holding a party in its honour.

It was recently reported that a man from the UK who is now residing in Australia was treated to a large piece of Lancashire Crumbly cheese by his wife who had picked up the gift while visiting relatives in Preston.
