Judges gear up for British Cheese Awards
Published on 07/09/2010

Food critics, restaurateurs, producers and journalists are getting reading for the upcoming British Cheese Awards.

The event takes place in Kingham this Thursday (September 9th) and a number of judges will be on hand to rate the goods on offer, Smallholder.co.uk reports.

Approximately 900 cheeses from 190 producers - which often feature in luxury gift hampers - will be put forward for prizes and each judging team will taste between 40 and 60 products.

"Of the cheeses entered so far there are just six being made from Buffalo milk, 136 made with raw milk and 91 are organic," the news provider stated.

According to the publication, the Export Cheese category will be reviewed separately at the Great British Cheese Festival, which is taking place in Cardiff later this month.

The gathering gives cheese fans the chance to sample hundreds of different products and they will also buy their favourites to take home.
