A heartwarming story on a wintery day is the tale of Frosty the Hedgehog who was found struggling to survive in freezing conditions.

But luckily for the spiky creature, he was rescued by the Selby Wildlife and Rehabilitation Centre in North Yorkshire and nursed back to health.

When he was found he was scavenging for food and surviving on bird seed and dried mealworms which had fallen to the floor.

Now thanks to the generous donation of a food hamper by readers of the Selby Times, Frosty and fellow hedgehogs at the wildlife centre have been able to feast.

The hamper came in response to a plea from the wildlife centre for foodstuffs for vulnerable hedgehogs whose hibernation patterns have been disrupted by the cold and wet weather which has affected the whole of the UK.
