Healthier eating made easier with fruit baskets?
Published on 05/12/2011

Providing people with fruit baskets as a gift could encourage them to eat more healthily and stay below their salt and sugar targets.

According to registered nutritionist Dr Carina Norris, many people are still consuming too much and should be shown how simple it is to make a positive change.

"We have to make it easier for people to eat healthily, rather than just eating the default of what is all around us which often isn't that healthy," she said.

Dr Norris added that some individuals may believe that their intake is not harming the health, but should be informed of the negative impact continued excess consumption could have in the future.

This follows recent comments from spokesman for the National Obesity Forum Tam Fry suggesting that a lack of education about the importance of eating good food and living a healthy lifestyle has contributed to rising obesity problems in the UK.
