A raffle featuring hampers and fruit baskets has helped raise a substantial amount of money for the Whitby Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
The Scarborough Evening News reports how two local establishments held a fundraising event in order to boost donations for the organisation.
Tickets were sold by Harry's Bar and Harper Brown Health and Beauty with a total of £1,000 collected.
Among the prizes in the raffle were several hampers, a cake and a fruit basket, which had all been donated.
Four winners were announced at the event and all those who helped organise the fundraising night were thanked for their efforts.
The Whitby RNLI station has seen its volunteers presented with 49 awards for gallantry, while 2,509 medals have been issued to members of the RNLI since they were introduced in 1824.
More than 40,000 volunteers work on lifeboats, at stations, on beaches and in fundraising for the organisation.
