Hamper raffle helps raise cancer funds
Published on 09/10/2012

Two hampers were raffled off by the Herts and Essex Community Hospital as part of a fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Herts and Essex Observer reports how the medical unit took part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, which was held nationwide on Friday September 28th.

Team members at MedicX Pharmacy, which is located in the hospital, managed to raise £237 for the cancer charity through the raffle and sales of coffee and cupcakes.

Pharmacy manager Vishnal Mehta said: "We thought we might raise £100 but we have more than doubled that. Many thanks to everyone who got involved, whether making cakes or eating them."

Several other fundraising events were held across the region, with a coffee morning held at Four Acres in Saffron Walden and run by Uttlesford District Council collecting £320.

So far, Macmillan Cancer Support has received £4,923,160 in donations from organisations and people across the UK who took part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning.
