Northallerton care centre Herriot Hospice Homecare has been presented with a luxury hamper in honour of being nominated as one company's charity of the year.

Gourmet food business Lewis & Cooper has announced all money raised in 2012 will be donated to the establishment.

Retail director at the organisation Bettina Bell said: "We are delighted to be able to help this local charity, which provides such fantastic support to members of the community when they most need it."

The hospice provides care at home to terminally-ill patients from Hambleton and Richmondshire and is the latest not-for-profit organisation backed by Lewis & Cooper.

For more than 20 years, a wide range of charities have received donations from the business, with Help for Heroes sponsored from 2010-11.

The charity was founded in October 2007 by Bryn and Emma Parry with an aim of helping wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
