It is possible to enjoy hamper wine frequently but without over indulging, in the eyes of a connoisseur.
Preston-based beverage expert Emma Bailie told the Lancashire Evening post moderating an intake does not necessarily mean complete abstention.
"I love wine and wouldn't dream of cutting it out completely, but I've got some tricks up my sleeve that could help [people] cut down without feeling deprived," she said.
Ms Bailie suggested drinking rose as it is done in the south of France – dropping an ice cube or two into a glass - will keep it chilled while the wine is diluted slowly and unnoticeably.
In addition, she encouraged patience upon returning home from work, as staving off uncorking a bottle via a soft or hot drink may stop booze from being guzzled before tea is even ready.
Earlier this week, the Herald Sun reported that in a school experiment 17-year-old Alix Pichon discovered a wine-making method that eliminated the need for hangover-inducing preservatives.
