A woman who has spent ten years helping bring together the people of Sapcote has been surprised with a hamper as a thank you for her efforts uniting the community.
Maureen Haslett was nominated for the Hinkley Times Pamper With A Hamper in recognition of her weekly tea afternoons held every Thursday at Sapcote Methodist Church.
The events were originally organised to help raise money for the church and proved to be so popular that Ms Haslett decided to continue arranging the tea parties.
"We get all types of people from babies to people aged 90. There isn’t a lot in the village for people to do so it’s nice for people to come and have a chat," the 68-year-old stated.
There were 35 winners in total and they all received a Christmas hamper after being chosen from hundreds of nominations.
The Hinkley Times Pamper With A Hamper campaign is now in its ninth year and is one of the 3,250 initiatives supported by the Helping Hearts Award scheme.
