A mum of two from Hailsham, East Sussex, was presented with a luxury hamper and spa day prize after winning a Sussex and Surrey-wide radio competition.

Sam Rogers came out on top in a series of general knowledge quizzes against representatives from 78 other parts of the UK to claim the Big Town Showdown title, the Sussex Express reports.

Participants were required to answer ten questions as quickly as possible, while wrong answers led to ten seconds being added on to their total time.

Entering the show at the end of November, Ms Rogers scored ten out of ten in just 32.9 seconds, which is the fastest time the competition has ever seen.

The contest was held on Heart 97-104 Breakfast and Ms Rogers was officially crowned the winner by presenter Jack 'The Lad' Hayes during a surprise live street party, while her daughters Maisie and Flo were handed two large sacks of gifts.

Hayes told listeners: "We wanted to give something back to her to make sure they all had a fantastic Christmas and a little something extra so she could indulge in some time to herself in the new year."
