Gradual saving may be ideal for Christmas hamper buyers
Published on 13/10/2011

Putting a little aside each week could be the ideal approach for those buying Christmas hampers this year.

Research by MoneySupermarket.com revealed consumers are becoming concerned about the costs of the festive season, with many expecting it to be tighter than in the past.

However, head of banking at the site Kevin Mountford explained putting aside a little each week can be the "best bet" for funding the period.

This tactic could be especially useful for those hoping to spend a little extra on a luxury Christmas hamper for a loved one.

The proportion of people already nervous about Christmas increased significantly compared to a poll carried out at the same time last year and the findings come after Santander found many Britons are cutting back on gifts.

While those in a relationship have typically spent more than £1,100 per year on their partners, this was shown to have dropped to £879 in 2011.
