Good news for hamper lovers as 'British wine is on the up'
Published on 21/05/2010

The British wine industry appears to be enjoying a period of growth, which may please those who enjoy settling down with a gift hamper.

According to the Guardian, wines from these shores are "finally coming into their own" as two vineyards in England have been honoured at the International Wine Challenge.

The news outlet stated English viticulture has been surging of late, thanks to falling costs and quality improvements.

It added that British efforts are creating their own distinctive style - with a "particularly delicate, sunny aromatic" white flavour.

The publication listed some of the best regions in the country to find the finest brands.

These included Camel Valley in Cornwall, which is the largest and most celebrated vineyard in the region, Three Choirs in Gloucestershire, which offers an "all-singing, all-dancing" wine experience and Purbeck Vineyard in Dorset, where guests can stay in a boutique hotel.

French researchers recently revealed that drinking moderate amounts of red wine can bring numerous health benefits.
