Gift hamper lovers could attend cheese-rolling event next year
Published on 16/04/2010

Fans of gift hampers could go to a cheese-rolling festival next year.

Following the cancellation of the event at Cooper's Hill in Gloucestershire in 2010, organisers have vowed that it will return in an extended format in 2011, thisisgloucestershire.co.uk has reported.

The race will not take place this year due to safety fears for spectators - 15,000 of whom turned up to watch the spectacle in 2009.

However, the people behind the celebration have suggested a few measures may be put in to place next year to accommodate such a crowd.

These include showing the competition on big screens in the city centre and holding a cheese and wine festival to coincide with the rolling.

Chris Anderson, who has won the event five years in a row, said: "It would be better to have big screens in Brockworth so it is closer to the action."

It was recently reported that BBC Radio Two presenter Chris Evans is a big fan of the Wensleydale variety of the dairy produce.
