A fruit basket could be the ideal gift for those who enjoy eating produce sourced from the UK.
Organiser of the British Food Fortnight Alexia Robinson noted people are beginning to embrace local goods, particularly seasonal produce.
It could make the inclusion of such items in a fruit basket perfect for those seeking a gift for a foodie, with Ms Robinson explaining demand can increase in times of economic hardship.
"Consumers tend to hunker back to familiar, home-produced food and they are also cooking much more at home which is great news [for] British meat and fresh fruit and vegetables," she said.
This year's British Food Fortnight ran from September 17th to October 2nd and it was the tenth instalment of the annual celebration.
Thousands of events took place around the country and Val Carter of Aramark observed customers consider it even more important to buy British goods during tough times.
