Individuals looking for inspiration for what to do with the contents of a fruit basket may want to consider transforming the healthy snacks into interesting desserts. 

In a piece for the Daily Telegraph, Diana Henry explained how there are plenty of ways to serve fruit this summer that will please a range of palates.

One suggestion was to cover halved apricots in wine, water, vanilla extract and a little sugar before baking them through the oven until they are caramalised.

Alternatively, adventurous types may want to try their hand at poaching fruits for a different flavour.

For a simple dessert, Ms Henry recommended serving peaches or nectarines with almond cake, biscotti or shortbread, to add texture and flavour.

"Slice them and put them in a bowl with some muscat de beaumes de venise or marsala (no syrup required) and serve with something sweet and almondy," the expert suggested.
