Festival-goers to take birthday hamper to Glastonbury?
Published on 25/06/2010

Revellers may well be packing a birthday hamper along with their tents as they head to this year's Glastonbury festival.

The event is celebrating its 40th birthday and the weather is expected to be sunny throughout.

Organiser Emily Eavis announced to the 180,000 festival-goers expected to attend the spectacle: "Please bring sun protection with you!"

She relayed the Met Office prediction that temperatures will remain above 20 C across the weekend.

The gathering was set to feature U2 as the headline act on the Friday (June 25th) night, but the group had to pull out after lead singer Bono suffered a back injury.

Damon Albarn's group Gorillaz have stepped in to the slot and other artists who are playing at the top of the bill on the Pyramid Stage include Stevie Wonder and Muse.

The festival has had better luck with the weather in recent years - it is famed for punters partying in the mud - as last year also witnessed some prolonged dry spells.
