A chocolatier has entered the UK Chocolate Masters and is the first woman to do so. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Ruth Hinks said she "adores" everything about the sweet stuff and admitted she can consume half a pound-worth a day. She explained she will have to create 60 dipped and 60 moulded chocolates, 12 desserts, a mystery box and two gateaux all in two days for the competition. "If I win, I'll go to Paris to represent the UK in the World Chocolate Masters next year. But I have a business and two children under the age of four, so I'll just do my best," Ms Hinks added. She explained she originally trained as a pastry chef, but was inspired to open her own chocolate-making school after watching the film Chocolat. Earlier this week, Mark Robson, finance director and interim chief executive of chocolate retailer Thorntons - which provides goods for luxury gift hampers - warned prices may have to go up due to soaring cocoa costs.
