Those who are partial to a chocolate gift hamper might like to have a go at making their own Easter eggs this year, as the activity has been recommended by a journalist.
Writing for the Guardian's Word of Mouth blog, Rebecca Seal attempted to make the sweet treats to relive "the early morning sticky fingers of childhood".
She used milk - not cooking - chocolate to allow for melting and easy setting, although she did recommend that a more expensive variety might give the finished product a more uniformed colour.
A marbled effect can be generated by mixing in white and dark chocolate, Ms Seal explained, while the possibilities once the concoction has set "are endless", she added.
Homemade eggs can also be produced ethically, as eager cooks can consult the Fairtrade Foundation's list of accredited types of the cocoa-based foodstuffs for inspiration and reassurance.
It was reported earlier in the month that dark chocolate can be beneficial for people's health, as it can serve to lower blood pressure.
