Family fun day heralded a success
Published on 03/08/2012

A family fun day held in Tickton was described as a great success by villagers who took part in the first-ever event.

The Beverly Guardian reports how thousands of people packed picnic hampers and went along to the Summer Fayre held at the local playing fields.

Real Aid, an international organisation that aims to help people suffering from hardship due to famine, drought and floods, organised the fun day.

The event features a teddy bears' picnic, a tug of war, a dog show, a bouncy castle, tombola, children's play area and a variety of stalls selling food and drink.

Local singer Laura Prescott performed at the fayre, while radio station KCFM 99.8 was on site.

More than £3,000 was raised and over 1,000 people attended the event.

Real Aid was founded in 2001 by husband and wife team Colin and Barbara Raine from Bridlington and has headquarters in Sierra Leone, Albania and Bulgaria.
