Exposure to sun should be gradual, expert advises
Published on 07/08/2012

Brits have been advised to take care when exposing their skin to the sun, as the lack of clear days seen this summer means skin will be vulnerable.

Founder of the Natural Skincare Company Amanda McGillivray claimed people are often eager to expose their bare arms, legs and face as soon as the sun comes out.

However, when skin has not seen rays for a significant amount of time, it is important to use plenty of sun cream and spend time in the shade.

As well as using pamper hampers to keep skin looking good, avoiding sun damage when overseas is the key to a healthy glow.

"Take particular care at the beginning of a holiday abroad - ensuring that you use an SPF25 and keep right out of the sun during the hottest part of the day," Ms McGillivray commented.

Miguel Toribio-Mateas, a leading nutritionist, recently warned that just a short period of exposure can lead to sunburn in some people.
