A disabled capuchin monkey could be the proud receiver of a gift hamper as it has been revealed he has been given his own birthday cake.
Ricky recently turned 17 and celebrated the event at Nelson's Natureland Zoo in New Zealand, the Nelson Mail reports.
The primate was joined by dozens of children who blew out the candles on the gift and sang a rendition of Happy Birthday.
One of whom was 11-year-old Lily Phillips, who said: "He's nice and cuddly and cute. When I talk to him, he talks back."
Face-painting, a lucky dip and monkey puppet-making were also on offer during the party. Gail Sutton, operations manager at the establishment, described Ricky - who suffered brain damage as an infant - as an "icon" who attracts visitors from around the world.
It was recently reported that England and Arsenal footballer Theo Walcott celebrated his 21st birthday with a large dragon-slayer themed cake.
